Automatic Outreach Materials with AI

The use of AI in many areas of science is taking off, but how about using using LLM to quickly generate outreach materials by giving it a recent paper published and getting a few minute overview at a suitable level for public dissemination?

I tried this last week with a recent paper by my student: A. D. Brooks et al. Phys. Rev. C 111, 024002 (2025) and passing it into the Google NotebookLM where after ten minutes or so you can generate a video overview of whatever content you upload. See the results below:

While it is not perfect and is no substitution for a human-generated effort, it does a pretty good job at highlighting the key important factors of the paper and may generate some useful examples of how to explain this to non-specialists. The future is bright…
